Poisoned Pen, Phoenix

Like Book Passage, Poisoned Pen is something of a legend in the US book world, thanks to its owner, the tireless Barbara Peters. It’s a couple of years since I’ve been in Phoenix so it will be a delight to stop there on my way back from California. I’ll be talking at the main store at 4014 N Goldwater, Scottsdale, at 7pm on July 1.

Stratford Literary Festival

The Stratford Literary Festival is brand new, and it certainly has attracted an interesting lineup for its debut year. I’ll be in the fine company of Sophia Hannah and the writing partnership of Nicci French on Thursday May 1 and 4.30pm, to discuss ‘Crime - Agatha Christie versus the New Kids on the Block’.

It’s a ticketed event for this very busy festival - check out the details here.

Barcelona Negra 2008

bcnegra2008.jpgI’ll be in the Catalan capital briefly for Barcelona Negra 2008 in early February. Expect to see e around the Palau de la Virreina in La Rambla on February 7 and 8. My event at the book festival is at 17.45 in the Palau de la Virreina where I will be discussing inspectors, classic and modern, with Andy Oaks, Mark Billingham, Juan Bolea, and Leif G. W. Persson, moderated by José Luis Serrano.

The Costa books have proved popular in Spain, which was the setting for my first ever novel, Semana Santa. So it will be delightful to be back in the country, albeit briefly, and particularly to meet my enthusiastic Spanish publisher, Nausicaa, who are always among the first to have the Costa stories in translation, as well as standalones such as The Promised Land and Lucifer’s Shadow.

They do beautiful covers too as you can see below.
