The Seventh Sacrament nominated for audio prize

lg_image.jpg The fifth Nic Costa novel, The Seventh Sacrament, has been shortlisted for the new Audible Sounds of Crime Award for the best crime audiobook of 2007. Proud as I am I have to give enormous credit to Saul Reichlin who does such a wonderful job of narrating my work on audio for the publishers, WF Howes. You can listen to a sample of Saul’s narration and read Audible user reviews of the unabridged work by following this link.

The other four books shortlisted for the prize are

  • Richard Bachman, Blaze. Read by Ron McLarty (Hodder & Stoughton, unabridged)
  • Lee Child, Bad Luck & Trouble. Read by Kerry Shale (Random House, abridged
  • Tess Gerritsen, The Mephisto Club. Read by Lorelei King (BBC Audiobooks, unabridged)
  • Ian Rankin, Exit Music. Read by James Macpherson (Orion, abridged)

So I’m in pretty fine company, which is one way of saying it will be a %^*&*^ miracle if I win. But thanks for the nomination - I’m very flattered, particularly since the shortlist is the result of votes by Audible readers and Crimefest delegates. The results will be announced at the gala dinner at Crimefest in Bristol on Saturday, June 7. I will be around and talking on a panel about audio books there the following morning. You can read more about the awards and Crimefest here. Richard Bachman, need I add, is better known as Stephen King.
