I've read about Sellindge and it sounds like the same sort of disgraceful plot KCC tried to foist on Wye. But I'm afraid my time doesn't allow any more environmental campaigns any more (though I do seem to get invited on a regular basis). I hope what happened in Wye gives you some ideas on how to proceed - and good luck with your very justified fight.

Dear David, I have just finished reading your very interesting and informative book "Saved". I live in Sellindge which I love, and we the villagers numbering 1345 are being attacked by the KCC and ABC and outside agencies, Monserat from Birmingham who want to inflict a horrendous lorry park for 3000 lorries at one end of the village and at the other ,near the race course and Westernhanger Castle which is a National Heritage site at Otterpool lane, a waste plant by Countrystyle Recycling Limited. It is so out of keeping and crazy with a thriving resturant opposite and a new estate nearby and a rebuilt primary school that got burnt down 2 years ago, Both these areas are AONB and the waste plant would be over the Folkestone aquifer. The site for the lorry park is sponsered by DEFRA and many species of endangered wild life live there. people pay to fish there. The' powers that be 'have done their damdest to ruin the area already as we have the electricity converter station , the M20 and the High speed rail link and just recently an anearobic digester which stinks, all within spitting distance, so I suppose the KCC thought it is blighted already so what does a bit more pollution matter? If you get past all that, the area is habitate to kingfishers, heron, badgers and an egret. Like you I had not taken much notice of this area but I have taken a lot of photos now to show KCC and ABC what they want to destroy. Do you want to write another book? Sellindge could be your inspiration! Regards Margaret Ludlow.

Hello David

I live in Sandgate in Kent and we have recently been faced with a chairman of our council who seeks self aggrandissement. Despite publicly promising to permanently defer the issue, he used the fact that there were two absent councillors to get a motion passed in March to turn us from a parish into a town purely so he could be called mayor.

I purchased your book Saved and was inspired by the tactics you employed in Wye particularly the use of a blog site. Our battle was no where near as critical as yours but by steering clear of committees and reacting swiftly we were able, last night, to reverse the change through the mechanism of a poll. The Council on Tuesday (the Chairman was unfortunately unable to get to the meeting) passed a motion that the council will act on the outcome of the poll. So we're a parish again.

Thank you so much for your great book and good luck in the future.

Best wishes
